You know you've turned into an old guy when - whiole watching a terrific sports event - you stop thinking in the moment, and start thinking in corollaries.
So it was with this wonderful Syracuse University win in the inaugural Pinstripes Bowl. In a magnificent second half in which both teams just kept scoring (corollary one: the football equivalent of the SU-Georgia NCAA basketball tournament game in 1996), Kansas State pulled within 36-34 on a touchdown with about a minute to go. All was set up for a thrilling, do-or-die two-point conversion attempt - which, if successful, would have left Syracuse with time to make a stab at a field goal - but the officials banged Kansas State receiver Adrian Hillburn with a penalty for excessive celebrating, a sin that consisted of offering a military-style salute to the crowd. That meant the conversion attempt was from a distant 18 yards out.
SU stopped it, and won.
Yes, to me, the call itself seemed excessive. But I immediately thought of an instance when Syracuse was on the wrong end of a similar call. It's the Carrier Dome, 1994, and Oklahoma is blowing out the Orange, 24-0. Syracuse begins an incredible rally that starts when defensive back Bryce Bevill chases down a guy at the goal line and strips of him the ball. When SU goes ahead deep in the fourth quarter, 29-27, the Orange spill into the end zone to celebrate - and get penalized for that spontaneous jubilance, with the yardage imposed on the subsequent kickoff. Oklahoma uses the great field position to move quickly for a field goal, and Syracuse goes down.
Conclusion? Syracuse played a memorable game at Yankee Stadium and earned a terriric win, linked to an unfortunate call - and old-timers in Syracuse can take pleasure in the victory, while understanding exactly why it stinks for Kansas State.

Suge Knight Arrested - Responsible For Killing Tupac?
Suge Knight Arrested – Has Suge Knight Killed Tupac? That’s the big question on millions of peoples minds right now, if they are falling for the hoax videos and silly rumors that are spreading across the net today. Whether Suge Knight did kill Tupac or not, we don’t know the answer to that, but we do know why he was arrested.
Although Suge Knight was actually arrested today. According to CNN, it was as a result of not appearing at court on a traffic violation. According to reports, The 45-year-old consented to go with the police and was booked and issued a citation to appear in court again on the traffic violation. The whole process took about an hour
It would seem that now some people have managed to turn that arrest into something much more than it actually was. Quite a difference between a traffic violation and being charged for murder.
I guess this latest rumor makes a change from all the death rumors that have been round the net over the last few days. We have had the death of Aretha Franklin, Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy and a few other stars over the last few days. Needless to say, each and everyone of them are actually still alive.
Well, I suppose the latest rumor is a bit more imaginative, than the death rumors. wonder who is going to come up with the next one and what it will be.

Pro Bowl Roster Announced with Few Surprises
The Pro Bowl roster was announced by the NFL today and as it is every year you tend to concentrate on those who have been snubbed. For instance Aaron Rogers, Champ Bailey and Larry Fitzgerald were not selected with Aaron Rogers probably being the biggest snub of them all.
The Very disappointing Dallas Cowboys who will host this year’s Super Bowl and who were planning to play in it still managed to send Dallas Cowboys 5 players to the Pro Bowl 4 of which will be starters. Center Andre Gurode, Punter Mat McBriar, DT Jay Ratliff, LB DeMarcus Ware, TE Jason Witten all made the Grade
The Altanta Falcons are sending 7 to the Pro Bowl this year including QB Matt Ryan. No surprise that this year’s best surprise Michael Vick was named the starting QB for the NFC, while his biggest challenger to the NFL MVP Tom Brady will start for the AFC
The NFL has declared the experiment of playing the Pro Bowl a week before the Super Bowl a success, announcing today that in 2011, the Pro Bowl will be played one week before the Super Bowl for the second consecutive year. As previously announced, the Pro Bowl is moving back to Hawaii in 2011.
“Playing the Pro Bowl before the Super Bowl generated more excitement and interest in the event and also kicked off Super Bowl week in an innovative new way,” NFL Senior VP of Events Frank Supovitz said in a statement. “We are pleased to return to the State of Hawaii, which has embraced the Pro Bowl for 30 years.”

Tuesday Night Football - Vikings Vs Eagles: Joe Webb Becomes Star Of TNF
Tuesday Night Football features an athletic quarterback making plays all over the place, including with his feet. He’s finding open receivers, creating space on scrambles and making the right decisions under center. No, I’m not talking about Michael Vick. Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joe Webb has been everywhere and is a big reason the Vikings have a 17-7 lead over the Eagles.
To open the third quarter, Webb and the Vikings drove the length of the field before settling for a field goal. Webb hit Percy Harvin for 46 yards to start the drive and followed it up with a 26-yard strike to Visanthe Shiancoe. He showed off his arm again, throwing a perfect fade to Sidney Rice, though the touchdown was overturned.
It was Webb again the next time the Vikings had the ball, showing off his legs to cap the scoring drive. Webb scrambled around the edge, alluded a couple defenders and tip-toed into the end zone to give the Vikings a commanding 10-point lead over the heavily favored Eagles.
With the third quarter coming to a close, the Vikings are in position to pull off a stunner, leading the Eagles, 17-7.

Jim Toth- Engaged to Reese Witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon is ready to take another trip down the aisle.
The Oscar-winning actress announced plans to wed Hollywood agent Jim Toth, less than a year after her split from hunky leading guy Jake Gyllenhaal.
"They are extremely happy," Witherspoon's representative told Us Magazine.
The 34-year-old "Legally Blonde" actress began dating Toth, 40, last January, shortly after her split from Gyllenhaal.
The duo went public with their romance in March during a romantic birthday weekend in Ojai, Calif.
"She is definitely happy, in love and definitely wants to settle down," a pal told the magazine of her engagment to Toth.
Toth works as an agent at L.A.'s Creative Artists Agency, but doesn't represent Witherspoon.
This will be the second marriage for Witherspoon, who won a best actress academy award for her role as June Carter Cash in "Walk The Line."
She and hunky actor Ryan Phillippe were married for seven years before divorcing in 2008.
They have two daughters: Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7.
Insiders told Us that Toth has "bonded" with Witherspoon's kids.
He even looked after them in Los Angeles last fall while Witherspoon shot her new flick "This Means War" in Vancouver.
"Ava and Deacon are happy with him," the source added.
Witherspoon has been the subject of plenty of wedding rumors recently.
She joked about engagement chatter to Entertainment Weekly, saying "My mom always texts me, like, 'Are you getting married?'" Witherspoon said. "I'm like, 'Mom, come on! You would know if I was getting married,'" she said.

Singer Teena Marie has died at the age of 54. Marie was found dead in her Pasadena home on Sunday.
Officials say Marie’s death is due to natural causes, which means no foul play, but we’re guessing at 54, this isn’t a natural death at all.

GSI Commerce CEO Featured in 'Undercover Boss'
Undercover Boss Featured GSI Commerce CEO Michael Rubin
Sunday night’s CBS episode of Undercover Boss featured GSI Commerce CEO Michael Rubin.
The show features leaders of top companies who put themselves in their employee’s shoes for a day. Generally, the executives come away with some positive experiential knowledge of the real work-a-day existence of the lowest paid employees in their organizations.Rubin gave a shot at packaging and loading tasks and found that he wasn’t quite up to par. This wasn’t his first appearance on the show. Earlier he tried his hand at being a customer service representative.
The show always brings to mind the discrepancy between salaries of top paid executives and the low end of positions in their companies. In CGI Commerce’s case, Rubin makes about 100 times the amount a customer service rep makes.
Of course these salary multiples can be found in a lot of places besides corporate board rooms. LeBron James will make $14.5 million this year. What will the water boy make?
